The most common surgical combination we provide for the aging face is our Ocean Drive Limited Incision Facelift in conjunction with upper eyelid lift. There is a natural symmetry between a youthful appearing face, and bright vibrant eyes. Upper eyelid surgery, also known as an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, is a safe and reliable treatment for rejuvenating tired appearing eyes, and contributing to a youthful overall appearance.
As our eyes are a window to our soul, they also express us to the world at large. As a veritable calling card, our eye aesthetics are critical to how we are perceived by the world at large. As we age, our brow position tends to fall. As this descent occurs, we will tend to overuse our brow muscles, leading to animational and static rhytids (wrinkles), and dermatochalasis, or development of excess eyelid skin. Dermatochalasis, or excess eyelid skin, has a negative overall effect on facial and eye aesthetics. Excess skin can blunt the natural crease in the upper eyelid, and worsen the appearance of a low brow. In extreme cases, excess skin can cause what is known as a visual field deficit, where there is so much extra skin, that it gets in the way of normal vision.
The combination of upper eyelid surgery with our limited incision facelift produces very natural, very harmonious results for our patients. The basic premise of this combination is that it provides the greatest degree of improvement to the upper, middle, and lower face with the least amount of surgery. The procedures are done simultaneously, and recovery from this combination is quick. This specific combination is also routinely paired with fat grafting, laser resurfacing, rhinoplasty (nasal surgery), and other surgical and nonsurgical procedures.
The goal of all of our interventions at Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery and MedSpa® is to provide you the best possible outcome in the safest fashion with the least amount of surgery. While many patients either do better with surgery or prefer surgical to nonsurgical means, almost all of our patients recognize and appreciate our dedication towards minimizing the amount of surgery required to achieve your result.
