Facelift

Barbara is a delightfully ageless Mediterranean female with a face that didn’t reflect how she felt. She presented to Ocean Drive Plastic Surgery requesting facial rejuvenation. Over the years, she was very consistent with skin care, and was a conservative Botox® user. She felt that her face looked tired and old. We met a number of times before intervention, and we considered both surgical therapies, as well as nonsurgical remedies. She elected to proceed with surgical therapy, as she was unhappy with her eyelids and neck, and wanted a more durable solution than what was offered by dermal fillers and neurotoxins.

We proudly undertook a SMAS flap limited incision facelift with platelet rich plasma in combination with bilateral upper lid blepharoplasty with septal excision and fat reduction, bilateral lower lid blepharoplasty with septal reset and midface lift, structural fat grafting to her malar areas, brows, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines.

This patient is a classic example of the powerful concept we refer to as “Lift and Fill”. If you look at her result, a facelift alone cannot provide this result, as a facelift lifts and removes sagging and excess tissue. It does not volumize, however. For volumization, or “fill”, we offer the entire spectrum of FDA approved dermal fillers that are safe and effective. The most effective filler ever made, however, is fat. We utilize fat grafting liberally in our facial rejuvenation cases, as fat grafting offers the best, most natural result possible. It also lasts upwards of 5-7 years, as compared to commercially available fillers.

As a maintenance therapy, we provided a erbium fractional laser treatment 6 months after surgery to maximize collagenesis in the skin. Through careful facial analysis, and by combining lift therapy, fill therapy, and laser therapy, we were able to create a natural, rejuvenated look to this wonderful, timeless girl at heart.
